INITIAL PARENT CONSULTATION
The initial parent consultation is an interview to gather information relevant to a student's possible learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, executive functioning weaknesses, attention deficits), possible giftedness or the combination of both (twice exceptional, 2E).
This 90-minute session is designed to help parents or guardians explore their concerns about their son or daughter and to help them determine which steps to take next. For many families, a school neuropsychological assessment is the next step. For some families, the next step is a referral to a learning specialist, language specialist or other therapist. The Background Information Form must be completed and mailed back before the consultation is scheduled. In addition to the form, parents and guardians are encouraged to mail copies of the most recent evaluation, the most recent report card and recent work samples. I will read all of this material carefully before the consultation. To begin, print the form, complete it and return it by mailing or faxing.
The initial consultation fee is $400.
Hourly Consultation
For families that have had an initial 90-minute consultation, and have had a records review or a completed evaluation, these follow up sessions are offered to help parents determine the effectiveness of their treatment plans and to make needed adjustments. This may be conducted in the office or by phone. These sessions are billed by the quarter hour and are available for varied amounts of time.
